Because of the recent debate about the use of the term ‘digital marketing’, we thought it would be useful to pin down exactly what digital means through a definition. Do definitions matter? We think they do, since particularly within an organization or between a business and its clients we need clarity to support the goals and activities that support Digital Transformation. As we'll see, many of the other definitions are misleading.

Writing blog posts is especially effective for providing different opportunities to land on page one of search engines -- for instance, maybe your eyeglass store’s website is on page three of Google for “eyeglasses,” but your “Best Sunglasses of 2018” blog post is on page one, pulling in an impressive amount of traffic (over time, that blog post could also boost your overall website to page one).


Doing: When I want to improve my ability to exercise a particular skill that I know the basics of, I do it by offering it to a client for a lower cost (while explicitly explaining how much I know about it). A great way to learn how to be an internet marketer is to explore available online resources. Because digital marketing has quickly revolutionized the marketing world, there arose a need for easily accessible online resources to ensure those already in marketing could learn how to adapt to new digital platforms. One form of online resources are massive open online courses, or MOOCs. While working at a Fortune 100 company for nine years before moving to lead my current team, I became fascinated by customer behavior.
